THE FORCE

Star Wars gave us one of the most imaginative,
spectacular space adventures of all time.
The characters were amiable, the plot plausible
and the special effects extraordinarily incredible at that time.
Our entertainment appetite was adequately satiated,
but most important, Star Wars gave us
a wonderful perception of reality
for the scheme of things in the universe.

THE FORCE!

The Force, the personification of good and evil,
has been around since The Big Bang!

( The forces of nature have their light and dark side too!)

We struggle with these two entities
in everything we say and in everything we do
each and every day.
We are consistently subject
to the push and pull of the good and evil aspects
in each choice that plagues us
as we reason our way toward any decision
on any given act and its alternatives.

Humankind understood natural phenomena
even less than much of their unenlightened
experience with human nature.
Human nature is the inborn will to survive,
the primal instinct of every living creature on earth.
Humankind, however, has an edge
over the other creatures.
Humankind has a brain,
which through its evolution,
led them to walk upright,
to react rationally to warmth, cold,
soft, hard, bright, dark, sharp, dull.
We have the ability to wonder,
to reason, to test and explore.

Education took time to evolve.
Knowledge, fact and fiction,
both were most eagerly
and innocuously perceived
and embraced by tribes.
Leaders arose to direct the tribe,
maintain the food supply and modes of conduct.

We are talking about control, pure and simple!

Reason will tell us that human beings
took their very best shot
and created all the religions of the world.

Gods certainly has better things to do!

Mildly educated individuals claimed
that divine inspiration led them to specify
what their particular god wanted man to do.
They believed these revelations to be true
within the confines
of their pitifully limited intelligence.
All this was passed on
from generation to generation
by word of mouth until such time as
scribes began to record these things for posterity.

Great individuals have passed this way
and more will follow.
In my mind,
the historical Jesus Christ
is the greatest of them all,
because he defied the synagogue
for the sake of humanity and individual freedom.
He courageously challenged
the entire Roman Empire
with all its power!
What is even more remarkable
is the fact that he faced them
with nothing more than his mind!
His mind,
like that of Buddha,
was filled with love,
compassion and a keen sensitivity
to the human condition of all humankind.

So whatever the awesome power
of the universe may be,
The Force gives us the one truth
we can all subscribe to
in the light of our understanding.
The force of good and the force of evil
are the two controlling powers in the universe.
Both are within us.
Both are striving for control.
We have a brain,
a mind with which to make a decision.
When we get to the bottom line
on everything we say
and everything we do,
we choose good
or we choose evil.

It is always our choice!

May the force be with you?

But of course!

The force is always with us.

It is part of our psyche.

Our best chance
for a peaceful tomorrow
is the victory of the good force
over the evil force.

We are, after all,
our own best friend
and our own worst enemy!

Me, myself and I
will always remain the terrible trio
that runs the show!

The force lives on,
forever oblivious to our trivial pursuits.

The force spans infinity.
